WHO ARE WE?

Saffron Lit was founded in July 2020 by two young writers of South/West Asian + MENA descent who saw a need for representation within the literary scene. We seek to provide South/West Asian and MENA writers with a space to express the ways our cultural identities shape our perspectives, values, and daily lives through storytelling. Saffron Lit wants all your stories, whether they directly pertain to your cultural identity or not -- the stories drinking a cup of chai on the front porch, and the stories tucked away in the spice rack; the stories your mother tells you, and the stories you don’t tell her; the stories you leave behind, and the stories you rediscover. We want who, and when, and where you are: the homeland, the diaspora, and everything in between. Send us writing grounded by your roots, and writing that looks to the sky; we cannot wait to read it.
